The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) and the French leading aviation services company Elior Group Derichebourg Aeronautics Services (Elior) have officially launched the Aviation Engineering Training Centre, which was established through their collaboration, and introduced the Cabin Integrator Course, marking a new milestone in the development of Hong Kong’s high value-added aviation services.
The Cabin Integrator Course was designed specifically for aircraft maintenance technicians, providing training related to aircraft cabin dismantling. The course covers both theoretical knowledge and practical training, including the handling of various cabin components such as seats, doors, emergency and safety systems, and other equipment.
During the course development stage, HKIAA’s academic team visited France for a four-week training and exchange. Elior’s instructors also travelled to Hong Kong to engage with HKIAA’s teaching team and students, providing support in organising and refining the course content.
The Training Centre is located within an aircraft maintenance hangar and utilises the forward fuselage of an Airbus A319 as a training platform. This set-up allows trainees to receive hands-on training in a real aircraft cabin environment, enabling them to familiarise themselves with the relevant skills. These ensure a comprehensive understanding of aircraft maintenance and dismantling.
HKIAA hopes that through talent nurturing and technical exchanges, its partnership with Elior would create a local talent pool in aircraft parts dismantling as well as laying the foundation for the establishment of an aircraft parts processing, certification and trading centre in Hong Kong. These will further consolidate Hong Kong’s status as a leading aviation hub.
